NEWARK, Del. (Sept. 23, 2015) - Despite being down 1-0 only 14 minutes into the game, the LIU Post women's soccer team collected five unanswered goals, en route to a 5-1 win over Wilmington University in a non-conference tilt at the WU Athletics Complex.
In the first half, LIU Post (6-1) found itself down 1-0 after the Wildcats (2-3) got on the board in the 14th minute.
From there, the green and gold took over.
Senior forward
Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) netted the equalizer in the 41st minute, off an assist from freshman forward
Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden).
In the second half, junior forward
Julia Backman (Morsil, Sweden) got the go-ahead goal in the 47th minute off a helper from senior back
Katie LaManna (Smithtown, N.Y.), and then scored again in the 83rd minute off an assist from Vistnes to cap the scoring.
Sophomore forward
Alex Lynn (Sydney, Australia) notched an unassisted goal in the 49th minute and graduate forward
Kelsey Ferguson (Holtsville, N.Y.) tallied her first collegiate goal in the 78th minute off an assist from Backman.
In goal, senior keeper
Katelyn Phillips (Littleton, Colo.) made one save in the first half. Junior
Felicia Orderud (Gothenburg, Sweden) went untested in the second half to earn her fourth win of 2015.
Head Coach
Mark Dawson and the Pioneers return to the pitch on Saturday (Sept. 26), when they face Queens College in an East Coast Conference showdown in Flushing, N.Y. The opening kick is slated for noon.
