CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Sept. 29, 2015) - On Monday night, the East Coast Conference gave out its weekly volleyball awards, and LIU Post freshman setter
Giulia Genna (Civitella San Paolo, Italy) earned a second-straight nod as its rookie of the week.
Genna re-claims the honor after helping the Pioneers to three wins last week. She averaged 9.79 assists per set, which included a season-high 56-assist performance in a 3-2 win against Dowling College last Tuesday (Sept. 22). Additionally, Genna allocated 47 assists in a 3-1 victory at Molloy College (Sept. 24) and 34 helpers in a five-set triumph at Stonehill College (Sept. 26).
In Sunday's win at Stonehill, Genna also recorded eight digs and six kills, while boasting a .556 attack percentage.
Through 13 matches this season, Genna has 417 assists to her credit, which places second amongst ECC setters. Meanwhile, her average of 8.51 assists per set ranks fifth-best in the league.
Genna and the Pioneers return to action Tuesday (Sept. 29), when they host University of Bridgeport at the Pratt Recreation Center, in a battle of first-place teams in the East Coast Conference. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
