Chester, Tolgyesi Receive NE-10 Player of the Week Nods

MANSFIELD, Mass. (Oct. 3, 2016) - On Monday, LIU Post football red-shirt junior defensive back Jared Chester (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and sophomore kicker/punter Joey Tolgyesi (Miami, Fla.) were individually named the Northeast-10 Conference Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week.

Chester made a team-high-tying 11 tackles (seven solo, four assist) in Saturday's 19-18 win at then-No. 15 Assumption. Additionally, he recorded an interception and broke up two passes in the process.

Chester is currently tied for the conference lead in interceptions with three. His 42 tackles on the year are third-most amongst the league's defensive backs.

Meanwhile, Tolgyesi drilled both of his field-goal attempts on Saturday, splitting the uprights from 40 and 42 yards away.

He also did his part in helping out the Pioneer defense by pinning the Greyhounds inside their own 20-yard line on five occasions. His longest of the day was a 53-yarder that was downed at the one-yard line late in the fourth quarter.

Chester, Tolgyesi and their LIU Post side are back in action Saturday (Oct. 8), when they face Saint Anselm College in an NE-10 clash at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville, N.Y. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
