MELVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 30, 2016) - On Sunday, the LIU Post equestrian team claimed its second-straight high point finish at the Molloy College Show at the Thomas School of Horsemanship in Melville.

The Pioneers, who tallied 45 points on the day, had two of their competitors qualify for regionals. Sophomore Alexandra Blach (East Williston, N.Y.) earned a regional bid in the walk-trot-canter, after a first-place ride. Fellow sophomore Grace Tice (Simsbury, Conn.), who also came in second in the open flat, qualified in the open fences with a third-place showing.

Junior Sara Peterson (Huntington, N.Y.) and freshman Gianna Perry (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each won their class in the walk-trot-canter, as well. Junior Alyssa Rehm (Kings Park, N.Y.) was second in the event.

Junior Mallory Slack (East Islip, N.Y.) rode to a first-place finish in the intermediate fences, and placed third in the intermediate flat. Junior Heather Grova (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) had a second-place performance in the intermediate flat.

Freshman Cara Sappelsa (Smithtown, N.Y.) won the novice flat, while freshmen Nicole Sinram (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Alex Daskam (Southbury, Conn.) both finished second. Freshman Nicolette Signorelli (Bellmore, N.Y.) contributed a second-place showing in the novice fences.

Junior Shannon Wright (Valley Stream, N.Y.) secured the victory for the green and gold with a first-place ribbon in the walk-trot.

Head Coach Brooke Chasin and the Pioneers return to action next Sunday (Nov. 6), when they compete at the New York University/Princeton University Show at the Olde Towne Equestrian Center in Selden.
