YAPHANK, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2016) - On Sunday, the LIU Post equestrian team kicked off its inaugural varsity campaign as the high point team at the St. Joseph's College Show at Good Shepherd Farm in Yaphank.
The Pioneers had 12 of their riders earn a first-place ribbon. In her first collegiate show, freshman
Alex Daskam (Southbury, Conn.), who earned high point rider accolades, won the novice flat and novice fences.
Sophomore
Grace Tice (Simsbury, Conn.) placed first in the open fences and added a third-place showing in the open flat. Her efforts led to reserve high point rider honors.
Senior
Emily Gricco (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and freshman
Gianna Perry (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each secured a first-place finish in the walk-trot-canter.
Junior
Alexa Romano (Plainview, N.Y.) and freshman
Kate Galvin (Southington, Conn.) rode to first-place efforts in the novice fences. Junior
Sara Peterson (Huntington, N.Y.) won the walk-trot.
Junior
Mallory Slack (East Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore
Chloe Hoerner (Brightwaters, N.Y.) both claimed first-place ribbons in the intermediate fences.
Freshmen
Nicolette Signorelli (Bellmore, N.Y.) and
Nicole Sinram (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each came in first in the novice flat. Junior
Monica Moscoso (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) and freshman
Jillian Lento (East Patchogue, N.Y.) were second in the class.
Senior
Alex Rand (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished first in the open fences. Sophomores
Vanessa Finazzo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and
Jessica Sulkers (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) contributed third-place efforts in the novice fences and open flat, respectively.

Brooke Chasin and her LIU Post squad return to action Sunday (Oct. 9) at the Adelphi University Show at Stanhope Stables in Huntington.
