YAPHANK, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2016) - On Sunday, the LIU Post equestrian team kicked off its inaugural varsity campaign as the high point team at the St. Joseph's College Show at Good Shepherd Farm in Yaphank.

The Pioneers had 12 of their riders earn a first-place ribbon. In her first collegiate show, freshman Alex Daskam (Southbury, Conn.), who earned high point rider accolades, won the novice flat and novice fences.

Sophomore Grace Tice (Simsbury, Conn.) placed first in the open fences and added a third-place showing in the open flat. Her efforts led to reserve high point rider honors.

Senior Emily Gricco (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and freshman Gianna Perry (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each secured a first-place finish in the walk-trot-canter.

Junior Alexa Romano (Plainview, N.Y.) and freshman Kate Galvin (Southington, Conn.) rode to first-place efforts in the novice fences. Junior Sara Peterson (Huntington, N.Y.) won the walk-trot.

Junior Mallory Slack (East Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore Chloe Hoerner (Brightwaters, N.Y.) both claimed first-place ribbons in the intermediate fences.

Freshmen Nicolette Signorelli (Bellmore, N.Y.) and Nicole Sinram (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each came in first in the novice flat. Junior Monica Moscoso (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) and freshman Jillian Lento (East Patchogue, N.Y.) were second in the class.

Senior Alex Rand (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished first in the open fences. Sophomores Vanessa Finazzo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Jessica Sulkers (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) contributed third-place efforts in the novice fences and open flat, respectively.

Head Coach Brooke Chasin and her LIU Post squad return to action Sunday (Oct. 9) at the Adelphi University Show at Stanhope Stables in Huntington.
