BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 15, 2016) - On Sunday, the LIU Post equestrian team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2016-17 schedule with a high point finish at its annual home show at the North Shore Equestrian Center in Brookville.
It is the fourth-consecutive high point ribbon for the Pioneers, and the fifth in their seven shows this fall.
The green and gold had 11 different competitors win their class on the day. Junior
Mallory Slack (East Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore
Grace Tice (Simsbury, Conn.) tied for high point rider.
Slack placed first in the intermediate flat and intermediate fences, while Tice captured top billing in the open flat and open fences.
Senior
Alex Rand (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and junior
Jessica Sulkers (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) joined Tice with first-place showings in the open flat and open fences, respectively. Rand came in second in the open fences, as well.
Freshmen
Kate Galvin (Southington, Conn.) and
Jillian Lento (East Patchogue, N.Y.) each won their class in the novice flat. Galvin also had a second-place ride in the novice fences, along with junior
Monica Moscoso (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) and freshman
Nicolette Signorelli (Bellmore, N.Y.).
In addition, Signorelli earned a second-place finish in the novice flat. Moscoso and junior
Alexa Romano (Plainview, N.Y.) were third in the same event.
Freshman
Alex Daskam (Southbury, Conn.) placed first in the novice fences and second in the novice flat. Fellow freshman
Cara Sappelsa (Smithtown, N.Y.) was first in her class in the novice flat.
Three different Pioneers all won a first-place ribbon in the walk-trot-canter. They were junior
Sara Peterson (Huntington, N.Y.), sophomore
Alexandra Blach (East Williston, N.Y.) and freshman
Gianna Perry (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.).
Sophomores
Trina Aspenleiter (Levittown, N.Y.) and
Chloe Hoerner (Brightwaters, N.Y.) individually finished second and third in the intermediate flat.
