DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 3, 2016) - On Thursday, the LIU Post volleyball team closed out the road portion of its 2016 regular-season slate with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-14) win against East Coast Conference nemesis Mercy College at Victory Gymnasium.
The Pioneers (13-12, 6-6 ECC), who have now won 10 of their last 12 matches, hit at a .273 clip in the contest.
In the opening set, LIU Post jumped out to a commanding 13-4 advantage and never looked back. Junior outside/right-side hitter
Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.) provided four kills in the run. Sophomore middle/right-side hitter
Elise Strange (Chesapeake, Va.) and sophomore outside hitter
Rachel Londot (Utica, Ohio) added two kills apiece.
The Pioneers eventually went on to a 25-17 victory, after Strange and freshman middle/right-side hitter
Lea Brady (Woodbridge, Va.) teamed up for a block on Mercy's Andrea Velasco (Whittier, Calif.).
Leading 13-12 in the second set, the green and gold went on a 12-4 streak to take the set by a 25-17 count. Valenza, Londot and Strange each slammed down two kills in the outburst.

Navah Evans (Oakland, Calif.) and freshman setter
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor (North Miami Beach, Fla.) both served aces to aid in the effort.
In the third set, LIU Post committed just one attack error in a 25-14 rout. Senior middle hitter
Taryn McCullouch (Buena Park, Calif.) registered five kills to pace the Pioneers in the game.
Valenza finished with a team-high 10 kills and 18 digs for a double-double. McCullouch tallied nine kills on a .429 attack percentage. Londot had eight kills and four digs. Strange amassed seven kills, four blocks and two digs.
