BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Nov. 4, 2016) - The No. 22 and second-seeded LIU Post women's soccer team came up short Friday in a 2-0 loss to No. 7 and top-seeded University of Bridgeport in the 2016 East Coast Conference Championship final at Knights' Field.

The loss snapped a 13-game unbeaten streak for the Pioneers, who fell to 14-3-2 on the season.

Though LIU Post held Bridgeport (16-3) off the scoreboard in the opening 45 minutes, the Purple Knights tallied a pair of goals in the second half to earn the victory.

Meanwhile, the Pioneers were limited to just five shots in the match. Sophomore forward Andrea Huntzinger (Stockholm, Sweden) and freshman midfielder Medina Mulic (Ridgewood, N.Y.) each had one shot on goal for the green and gold.

Between the pipes, sophomore goalkeeper Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) turned in her best start of 2016, making a game- and season-high nine saves for LIU Post. Fellow sophomore netminder Jennifer Wendelius (Lidingo, Sweden) stopped two shots for Bridgeport.

Head Coach Mark Dawson and the Pioneers now await word on a potential at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Championship. The selection show will be aired live on Monday (Nov. 7) at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com. You can view it by clicking here.
