BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 10, 2016) - On Sunday, the LIU Post women's fencing team hosted its inaugural LIU Post Invitational at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville.

The Pioneers (2-17) fenced to a 1-4 record on the day. Their lone victory was a convincing 19-7 win against Division I program Wagner College.

Senior Kirstan Shaw (South Setauket, N.Y.) led the way for the green and gold, posting a near-flawless 14-1 ledger in epee. Her only loss on the day came to Natalia Toby of Fairleigh Dickinson.

Graduate Brittany Burgos (Bronx, N.Y.) and junior Chantelle Duncan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) compiled 8-7 records in foil and epee, respectively.

Senior Katie Niemir (Mineola, N.Y.) had a team-leading 9-6 mark in sabre. Graduate Kat Miraglia (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and senior Sophie Michaelides (Whitestone, N.Y.) each went 8-7.

Head Coach Mike Corona and the Pioneers are back in action after the New Year, when they compete at the Fairleigh Dickinson University Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 in Hackensack, N.J.
