BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 10, 2016) - On Sunday, the LIU Post women's fencing team hosted its inaugural LIU Post Invitational at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville.
The Pioneers (2-17) fenced to a 1-4 record on the day. Their lone victory was a convincing 19-7 win against Division I program Wagner College.
Senior
Kirstan Shaw (South Setauket, N.Y.) led the way for the green and gold, posting a near-flawless 14-1 ledger in epee. Her only loss on the day came to Natalia Toby of Fairleigh Dickinson.
Graduate
Brittany Burgos (Bronx, N.Y.) and junior
Chantelle Duncan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) compiled 8-7 records in foil and epee, respectively.
Senior
Katie Niemir (Mineola, N.Y.) had a team-leading 9-6 mark in sabre. Graduate
Kat Miraglia (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and senior
Sophie Michaelides (Whitestone, N.Y.) each went 8-7.

Mike Corona and the Pioneers are back in action after the New Year, when they compete at the Fairleigh Dickinson University Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 in Hackensack, N.J.
