The victory improves the Pioneers to 2-1 overall. Meanwhile, the Violets, who entered the contest ranked No. 16 in Division III, were handed their first loss of the year to fall to 6-1.

Freshman Anthony Sparacio (North Babylon, N.Y.) led off the evening with a dominant 13-3 victory against senior Wayne Yuan (Naperville, Ill.) at 125 lbs.

In the 141-lb. weight class, senior Vinny Turano (Wantagh, N.Y.) took full advantage of a six-point first period in a 9-1 majoring of freshman Will Crisco (Madison, Conn.).

Then, at 149, fellow senior Jesse Meaney (Toms River, N.J.) earned an escape and the riding-time point to defeat senior Matthew Coppola (Warren, N.J.), 2-0.

In the 165-lb. bout, junior Ed Ramirez, Jr. (Massapequa, N.Y.) tallied eight second-period points in a 13-4 rout of junior Troy Edwards (Quakertown, Pa.).

Freshman Dan McClure (Westhampton, N.Y.) rallied from an early 4-1 deficit to beat freshman Jackson Kligerman (Rye, N.Y.), 7-4, at 184 lbs.

Lastly, at 197, junior Jake Horton (Medford, N.Y.) sealed the win for LIU Post with a thrilling 3-1 sudden-victory decision over freshman Jack La Corte (Monmouth Beach, N.J.).

Head Coach Joe Patrovich and the Pioneers return to the mat next Saturday (Dec. 10), when they compete at the Mariner Duals, hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point.
