BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 30, 2016) - Senior attackman Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) had a season-high nine points Wednesday afternoon to lead the No. 16/13 LIU Post men's lacrosse team to a 19-5 rout of Post University in a non-conference match-up at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Beccaris totaled a game-high-tying five goals and four assists in the win. Senior attackman/midfielder Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) finished with four goals and four assists for eight points. Senior attackman Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.) scored five goals and added two helpers for a seven-point day. Senior midfielder Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) added a four-point showing (1 G, 3 A).

In the opening two quarters, the tandem of Beccaris and Slane combined for eight goals, helping the Pioneers (6-3) to a commanding 14-2 halftime lead. Graduate midfielder Jeremy Morgan (Ridge, N.Y.) and Bellando each contributed a pair of tallies.

Then, at the start of the third period, junior goalie Matthew Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) stopped the first three Post (4-5) shots he faced, before Bellando struck for back-to-back goals in a 55-second stint to extend LIU Post's advantage to 16-2.

Liantonio made a game-best seven saves in 45 minutes of work. Senior goaltender Adam Winne (Ridgefield, Conn.) played the final 15 minutes, and recorded six stops in the process.

In the faceoff department, junior midfielder Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.) won 20-of-26 (76.9 percent) draws and scooped up 12 ground balls. In all, the Pioneers were 21-of-28 (75.0 percent) on faceoffs.

LIU Post dominated the shot (49-31) and ground ball (38-14) totals in the contest, and was a perfect 3-of-3 on extra-man opportunities. Additionally, the green and gold posted an 85.7 percent (12-of-14) success rate on clears.

Head Coach John Jez and the Pioneers now play on four consecutive Saturdays to close out the regular season, starting Apr. 9 in Old Westbury at No. 6/9 New York Institute of Technology. The opening faceoff is slated for noon.
