LANTANA, Fla. (Mar. 8, 2016) - Under the lights at the Santaluces Sports Complex, the LIU Post baseball team defeated Nyack College, 9-6, for its fourth-straight win on Tuesday.

Junior pitcher Dan Jagiello (West Islip, N.Y.) battled through six innings to get his first win of the season.

The Pioneers (5-6) took the early lead in the top of the first. Sophomore center fielder Rob Andreoli (North Wantagh, N.Y.) produced a run with an RBI groundout.

In the third, junior designated hitter Thomas Asbaty (Randolph, N.J.) plated Andreoli with a long double, before junior catcher Kyle Fagan (Wantagh, N.Y.) singled him home to make it a 3-0 game.

Nyack (1-6) would score a pair in the bottom of the inning, trimming the Pioneers' lead to 3-2.

The following inning, freshman third baseman Michael Greene (Stewart Manor, N.Y.) recorded his first collegiate hit and RBI with a run-scoring single up the middle. Sophomore shortstop Joe Spitaleri (Levittown, N.Y.) followed with an RBI single of his own, and Asbaty singled home Andreoli to widen the Pioneers' advantage to 7-2.

The Warriors responded with four of their own in the bottom half of the inning, making it a 7-6 ballgame.

In the sixth, freshman left fielder Joe Piscitelli (Levittown, N.Y.) manufactured a run of his own. After leading off with a single and advancing to second on a throwing error, the freshman tagged up on a fly-out to center and came around to score on a wild pitch, giving the green and gold an 8-6 lead. Later in the inning, Andreoli singled, stole second and third and scored on a passed ball, giving LIU Post an insurance run.

Junior pitcher Brian Tinney (Farmingdale, N.Y.) entered in the seventh and kept the Warriors off the board for his second save.

Piscitelli and Andreoli both had two-hit games, while Asbaty went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs driven in. Andreoli also had two RBIs and three stolen bases.

Head Coach Mike Gaffney and the Pioneers return to the diamond on Wednesday (Mar. 9), when they take on Lynn University. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
