MANCHESTER, N.H. (Apr. 21, 2016) - The No. 5/8 LIU Post women's lacrosse team turned back Saint Anselm College, 15-9, in non-conference action Thursday at Grappone Stadium.

Leading 2-1 with under 20 minutes left in the first half, the Pioneers (11-3) scored five unanswered goals in a near six-minute span to extend their advantage to 7-1 at the 14:03 mark.

Senior attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) had two of her game-high-tying four tallies in the run. Junior attacker Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist.

LIU Post eventually owned an eight-goal cushion (11-3) at the break, as Delaney notched her third marker of the half with less than a minute remaining in the period.

In the latter session, the Pioneers led 12-5 just over seven minutes in, until a three-goal spurt by the visitors in a stint of 2:58 widened the gap to double digits.

Freshman midfielder Trish Brisotti (Mattituck, N.Y.) got her second tally of the contest in the burst, while junior attacker Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) struck for two goals only 38 seconds apart.

Delaney finished with a game-best eight points (4 G, 4 A) in the victory. Bird collected four points (2 G, 2 A) and four draw controls. Vagelatos added two goals and an assist for a three-point effort. Senior defender/midfielder Honey Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) recorded two goals, to go along with six draws and one caused turnover.

Between the pipes, sophomore goalie Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made eight saves for LIU Post, which succeeded on 14-of-17 (82.3 percent) clear attempts and 1-of-2 (50.0 percent) free-position shots.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and the Pioneers are back at it Saturday (Apr. 23), when they close out the road portion of their 2016 regular-season schedule against East Coast Conference foe Queens College in Flushing, N.Y. The opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
