CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Apr. 25, 2016) - The East Coast Conference gave out its weekly softball awards Monday, and LIU Post freshman catcher
Julia Seader (Piscataway, N.J.) was named the league's rookie of the week.
Seader picked up her first-ever ECC Rookie of the Week honor by hitting at a stellar .471 clip in a 10-game stretch. She scorched five home runs and collected 14 RBIs, while scoring 12 runs and driving three doubles.
Seader broke out offensively on Saturday (Apr. 23), as she hit 6-for-8 with three homers, six RBIs and six runs scored in a sweep of Mercy College.
Seader also went 3-for-6 with four RBIs and two runs scored in a pair of victories at University of Bridgeport (Apr. 21), and picked up a pair of hits and an RBI in LIU Post's final regular-season game of 2016 against Dowling College (Apr. 24).
Entering the postseason, Seader is batting .401 with nine home runs and 36 RBIs. She ranks in the Top-5 in the ECC in nine different statistical categories.
Seader and the second-seeded Pioneers are back in action Thursday (Apr. 28), when they face No. 3 seed Molloy College on Day One of the ECC Championships at New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
