BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 9, 2016) - On Saturday, the No. 3/3 LIU Post women's lacrosse team cruised to a 19-0 rout of University of the District of Columbia in an East Coast Conference clash at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The Pioneers (9-2, 4-0 ECC) put on an offensive clinic in the first half, scoring 10 unanswered goals in the opening 15 minutes. They eventually held a commanding 12-0 lead at the break.

Senior attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) led the charge with two goals and five assists in the period. Junior attacker Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) tallied three goals and won five draw controls in the process.

In the second half, LIU Post kept up the intensity, outscoring UDC (1-8, 0-3 ECC) by a 7-0 count, en route to securing its eighth win in its previous nine contests.

Three different Pioneers found the back of the cage in the half for their first goals of the season. They were senior defender/midfielder Kaitlin Gaghan (North Massapequa, N.Y.), junior defender Kelly Backus (Oceanside, N.Y.) and sophomore defender Chelsea Karr (Wantagh, N.Y.).

Delaney finished with a game-high nine points (3 G, 6 A) in the victory. She also compiled three ground balls and two draws. Bird amassed three goals and an assist for a four-point output. Junior defender/midfielder Cara Douglas (West Islip, N.Y.) had a pair of goals and an assist for three points. Senior attacker Jessica Marsh (Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) netted two goals apiece.

Overall, LIU Post outshot UDC by a 6-to-1 margin (30-5) and owned a 22-7 advantage in ground balls. Additionally, the Pioneers, who converted both of their free-position shots on the afternoon, dominated 20-1 on draws.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and her LIU Post squad now begin a four-game road trip, starting Wednesday (Apr. 13) in Brookhaven at No. 13/15 Dowling College at 4 p.m.
