LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 12, 2016) - LIU Post freshman pitcher
Hannah Olshevski (Robbinsville, N.J.) has been tabbed as a finalist for the Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II National Freshman of the Year Award, the organization announced Wednesday.
She is one of only eight finalists and the lone representative from the East Region. The winner will be revealed on Monday (May 16).
Olshevski made her mark in 2016, posting a 21-7 record with a 1.80 earned-run average. She led the East Coast Conference in wins and complete games (25), while ranking second in ERA, third in batting average against (.223) and fourth in shutouts (5).
Olshevski's efforts earned her the nod as the ECC Pitcher of the Year. She was the first rookie to receive the honor since the league was founded in 2006, and the third Pioneer in as many seasons to be recognized as the conference's top pitcher.
Additionally, Olshevski, a two-time ECC Pitcher of the Week, has also been chosen to the Division 2 Conference Commissioner's Association All-East Region First Team and NFCA All-East Region Second Team.
Behind the collaboration between the NFCA and its DIvision II Head Coaches Committee, the National Freshman of the Year Award was created in 2015 to honor the outstanding athletic achievement among first-year softball student-athletes in Division II.
