Women's Basketball Adds Four to 2016-17 Roster

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 3, 2016) - LIU Post Head Women's Basketball Coach Deirdre Moore has announced the addition of four incoming freshmen to her 2016-17 squad.

Moore has signed four players thus far, and plans on adding a few more pieces leading up to the beginning of the Fall 2016 semester.

Isla Powell, F/C, Monroe-Woodbury HS
Isla Powell was a force on the boards for Monroe-Woodbury High School. She also helped lead her team to back-to-back New York State Section IX Championships.

Moore on Powell: "Isla is a very intelligent, hard-working player that we are happy to have join our program. She gives us size and toughness inside. She can score with her back to the basket, as well as knock down the face-up jumper. We believe she will help our team and be a solid contributor."

Dominique Williams, G, Francis Lewis HS
Dominique Williams averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 5.0 steals per game during her time at Francis Lewis High School. She was named to the State Federation and Class AA All-Tournament teams, as well.

Moore on Williams: "Dominique is a quick, explosive guard that can play point or shooting guard. Her defensive skills, along with her scoring ability, allows her to impact the game on both sides of the ball. She is eager to play with her high school teammate, Robyn Francis, and we are excited to have her join our basketball family.

Samantha Dunn, F, Riverhead HS
Samantha Dunn was a four-year player at Riverhead High School. Throughout her career, she averaged 15.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. She was a four-time All-League honoree, three-time All-Suffolk County selection, an Academic All-County pick and League III Player of the Year.

Moore on Dunn: "Sam is a versatile player that can score and defend. She plays with incredible passion and works extremely hard. We are glad to have her join our team and we are expecting her to contribute right away."

Mikaiya Moore, F/C, Copaigue HS
Mikaiya Moore was a four-year player at Copaigue High School. After earning All-County praise in 2013 and 2014, Moore missed the 2015 season with an injury, but came back strong in 2016. She was a First Team All-Long Island selection, All-County honoree and the League II Player of the Year as a senior in 2016. Over her career, she scored 1,503 points and led Suffolk County in scoring as a senior with 527 points.

Moore on Moore: "Mikaiya comes to us after completing a standout high school career. She is a gifted scorer that can score inside and out. She is aggressive on the glass and we are happy to have her be a part of our basketball family. We are looking for her to have an immediate impact on our team and program."
