Box Score
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (May 6, 2016) - The No. 23 and second-seeded LIU Post softball team had its 2016 season come to an end Friday in a 2-0 loss to seventh-seeded Molloy College in the 2016 NCAA Division II Championship East 2 Sub-Regional at Adelphi University's Janet L. Ficke Field.
The Pioneers (37-15-1) threatened early, but were unable to get on the board against Lions' (35-23) junior pitcher Chelsea Hawks (Wading River, N.Y.).
LIU Post managed to put a total of seven players on base through the first three innings, including four runners in scoring position.
Molloy broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third, on a two-run homer by junior designated player Milan Botte (Reston, Va.).
That proved to be all the runs needed, as the Pioneers were retired in order over the final four frames.
LIU Post concludes the 2016 campaign at 37-15-1 overall and 23-5 in East Coast Conference play. For more information on Pioneer softball, please continue to visit
