WILMINGTON, Del. (May 9, 2016) - On Monday, LIU Post softball freshman pitcher
Hannah Olshevski (Robbinsville, N.J.), freshman catcher
Julia Seader (Piscataway, N.J.) and junior pitcher
Ashley Martin (Long Beach, N.Y.) continued to pile up the postseason awards, earning nods to the 2016 Division 2 Conference Commissioner's Association All-East Region Team.
Olshevski, a D2CCA All-East Region first-team honoree, led the East Coast Conference in wins as a rookie, en route to being named the league's pitcher of the year. She was the first freshman to receive the award since the ECC was founded in 2006, and is the third Pioneer to be selected as the conference's pitcher of the year in as many seasons (
Ashley Martin - 2015, Liz Weber - 2014).
Olshevski pitched to a league-best 21-7 record in the circle with five shutouts and a 1.80 earned-run average. She also held opposing hitters to the third-lowest batting average against (.223) in the ECC and issued only 1.03 walks per contest, which currently ranks 31st in Division II.
Seader and Martin both landed a spot on the D2CCA All-East Region Second Team. It marked the second-straight year that Martin was recognized as an All-Region selection by the D2CCA.
Seader was dubbed the ECC Rookie of the Year, after putting together a sensational career-opening campaign. She paced all freshmen in the conference with a .386 hitting clip, to go along with 10 home runs and 40 RBIs. She placed in the Top-10 in the league in 10 offensive statistical categories.
Meanwhile, Martin compiled a 16-8 mark in 2016 with a league-leading 1.73 ERA and .203 batting average against. Her 144 strikeouts and 22 complete games were the second-most in the ECC. Additionally, Martin yielded two earned runs or fewer in 18 of her 27 starts, including a conference-best eight shutouts.
