BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jun. 15, 2016) - LIU Post Head Volleyball Coach Shellane Ogoshi announced Wednesday the addition of five standout athletes that will take the court for the Pioneers in the 2016 season.

They are Kassie Akouri-Tejedor (North Miami Beach, Fla.)Lea Brady (Woodbridge, Va.)Cara Kennedy (Mineola, N.Y.)Indira Rojas (Coamo, Puerto Rico) and Shannon Sahli (Orange, Calif.).

Hailing from the Sunshine State, Akouri-Tejedor was the starting setter at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She was a three-time All-County selection and two-time recipient of the Coaches' Award.

Moreover, Akouri-Tejedor, who amassed 1,451 career assists and 470 digs at Cardinal Gibbons, helped the Chiefs to a four-year record of 91-31, including a District title in 2013 and a Regional and State Championship in 2015.

"Kassie will be coming in next year as a setter," Ogoshi stated. "Though she is on the smaller side, Kassie has great ball control and will be able to add a lot of versatility to our program."

Brady played three varsity seasons at Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, Va. She twice received All-Cedar Run Conference honors and earned a nod to the All-Region 6A North Honorable Mention Team in 2014. Brady also helped her team to a pair of Cedar Run Conference titles in the process.

"Lea is an incredibly versatile player who we are looking to put in the middle or at right side," Ogoshi said. "I truly believe that she will be an asset to our team at any position she plays. She has a great presence, both on and off the court, and we are excited to see what this young lady will do next year and in the years to come."

Kennedy, a 2015 AVCA/Under Armour Player to Watch and native Long Islander, swung from the right side for two seasons at Kellenberg Memorial High School. She tallied 154 kills, 64 blocks and 39 aces in her senior year and was a member of the Firebirds' CHSAA League and State Championship Team in 2015.

"Cara has been coming to our camps for the past few years and arrives from a successful high school and club career," Ogoshi commented. "She is a right-side hitter that we are very excited to have as part of our team next season."

Rojas is a two-year transfer from Monroe College in the Bronx. She allocated 1,516 assists in her two years with the Mustangs, in addition to totaling 333 digs and 120 service aces. Furthermore, Rojas' efforts aided Monroe in capturing an NJCAA Women's Division I Region XV Championship in 2014.

In her high school career, Rojas was a four-time conference champion at Colegio Valvanera. She was named to the 2014 Under-18 Gold Division All-Star Team and recognized as the 2013 Caribbean School Tournament Most Valuable Player.

"Indira is our most recent recruit from Monroe College, where she played as a libero and setter," stated Ogoshi. "She is originally from Puerto Rico and will add some experience and IQ to our team for next year."

Sahli spent two varsity seasons with Foothill High School in Santa Ana, Calif. She helped the Knights to an East Bay Athletic League title and earned a bronze medal at the 2015 USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships.

"Shannon is another great ball control player, who will be able to offer our program the defense and serve-receive consistency we are looking for," Ogoshi said. "She is currently an outside hitter and we are looking for her to maintain that role this fall."
