Seader Garners ECAC Division II Rookie of the Year Accolades

DANBURY, Conn. (Jun. 9, 2016) - On Tuesday, LIU Post softball freshman catcher Julia Seader (Piscataway, N.J.) was recognized as the 2016 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Rookie of the Year.

Seader was also named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year in her debut season, in addition to claiming All-ECC first-team and NFCA and D2CCA All-East Region second-team distinction.

She hit at a team-leading .386 clip with 10 home runs and 40 RBIs, while scoring 35 runs and driving 14 doubles. Seader ranked in the Top-10 and led all freshmen in the ECC in 10 offensive statistical categories.

Freshman pitcher Hannah Olshevski (Robbinsville, N.J.) earned a spot on the ECAC All-Star Second Team. She posted a league-best 21-7 record in the circle with a 1.80 earned-run average and 63 strikeouts.

Her efforts led to a nod as the ECC Pitcher of the Year, making her the third Pioneer in as many seasons and the first freshman since the conference was founded in 2006 to receive the honor.

Moreover, Olshevski, who boasted a stingy .223 batting average against in 30 appearances, was selected to the D2CCA All-East Region First Team and NFCA All-East Region Second Team.
