BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jun. 9, 2016) - On Thursday, LIU Post Head Women's Basketball Coach
Deirdre Moore announced the addition of three student-athletes to her 2016-17 squad.
Moore adds one transfer and two freshmen to a class that already included four freshmen.
Asia Turner, G, Abington Friends HS
Asia Turner comes to Brookville after a standout career at Abington Friends High School in Pennsylvania. As a senior, she was named Team Captain and helped her team to a first-place finish in the regular season, a Final 4 Friends School League appearance and a second-round berth in the State playoffs. Additionally, she was an All-League first-team selection.
Moore on Turner: "Asia is a very talented point guard that can shoot the three or get in the lane and create for her teammates. She is a very smart basketball player who shows a very high basketball IQ. We are very excited to have Asia join our basketball family and she shows tremendous potential to do well."
Sasha Patterson, F/C, Mohawk Valley C.C.
Sasha Patterson played two years at Mohawk Valley Community College. As a sophomore, she scored 9.7 points per game and was second on the team with a 9.1 rebound average and .504 field-goal percentage. Patterson was recognized as a Second-Team All-Conference and Third-Team All-Region player and an Academic All-American in her time at MVCC.
Moore on Patterson: "Sasha brings a strong work ethic and physical presence inside. She is a good rebounder and scorer in the paint. Sasha in an excellent student and we are happy to have her join our team. We are expecting her to be able to step in and contribute right away."
Taylah Hudson, G, Glen Cove HS
Taylah Hudson, the all-time leading scorer in Glen Cove High School history, comes to the Pioneers, after averaging 24.0 points, 6.0 assists, 6.0 steals and 5.0 rebounds per game as a senior. During her tenure at Glen Cove, she amassed 1,522 points. Hudson is a two-time All-State honoree, New York State Top-50 selection and Conference III Player of the Year.
Moore on Hudson: "Taylah is a very skilled basketball player and an incredible athlete. An impact player on both ends of the floor, Taylah can play any of the guard positions. She is great in the open court and her court vision and awareness will help us in the half-court setting as well. We are really happy to have Taylah and we're expecting her versatility to provide an immediate impact."
