RINDGE, N.H. (Sept. 17, 2016) - On Saturday, the LIU Post volleyball team fell to Franklin Pierce University by a 3-0 final (18-25, 20-25, 27-25) in non-conference action at The Fieldhouse in Rindge.

Senior middle hitter Taryn McCullouch (Buena Park, Calif.) led the Pioneers (2-5) with 11 kills. Junior outside/middle/right-side hitter Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.) had a double-double, totaling 10 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore setter Giulia Genna (Rome, Italy) allocated 29 assists.

In the first set, the Ravens (4-6) hit at a stellar .400 clip in a 25-18 win. Sophomore middle hitter Abigail Sonuga (Haverhill, Mass.) and sophomore outside hitter Katie Leidhold (Acushnet, Mass.) had four kills apiece to pace the Franklin Pierce attack.

Trailing 17-14 in the second set, LIU Post rallied to take a one-point lead (18-17) on an Analise Austin (Honolulu, Hawaii) ace, forcing a Ravens' timeout. However, the hosts answered with an 8-2 run to claim a 25-20 victory.

In the third set, LIU Post built a 17-10 advantage, via a 6-0 spurt. Sophomore middle/right-side hitter Elise Strange (Chesapeake, Va.) put down a pair of kills for the Pioneers in that stretch.

Yet, Franklin Pierce battled back to force extra points. The Ravens eventually went on to win the game 27-25 on a kill by Leidhold.

Head Coach Amanda Ostapow and her LIU Post squad are back in action Tuesday (Sept. 20), when they travel to Bridgeport, Conn. for a 7 p.m. first serve at East Coast Conference rival University of Bridgeport.
