BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jan. 18, 2017) - On Wednesday night, the LIU Post women's basketball team suffered a 65-45 setback to East Coast Conference foe Molloy College at the Pratt Recreation Center.

Sophomore guard Shannon Doyle (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) had a team-best 12 points and eight rebounds in the defeat. Senior guard Kylie Garrett (Mount Orab, Ohio) chipped in nine points off the bench. Sophomore guard Kyla Formey (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman guard Asia Turner (Philadelphia, Pa.) each added six points. Red-shirt freshman guard Robyn Francis (Rosedale, N.Y.) earned seven rebounds, three points and three blocks.

Down 18-9 early in the second quarter, the Pioneers (8-10, 5-4 ECC) rallied with a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to a four-point game (20-16) at the 6:04 mark. Doyle knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the stretch.

However, the Lions (15-4, 7-2 ECC) closed the first half on a 9-2 burst, which widened the gap to 35-23 at the break. Freshman guard Kathryn Gibson (Neponsit, N.Y.) sank two treys to help expand Molloy's advantage to double digits.

From there, the visitors never let go of their grip on the lead. The Pioneers twice came within a nine-point margin in the third quarter, but that was as close as they came in the latter 20 minutes of play.

Head Coach Deirdre Moore and her LIU Post squad return to action Saturday (Jan. 21), when they face Georgian Court University in their annual Coaches vs. Cancer game at the Pratt Recreation Center. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
