Softball Snags Votes in 2017 NFCA Division II Preseason Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 25, 2017) - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its 2017 Division II Preseason Poll on Wednesday, and LIU Post earned votes in the tally.

The Pioneers, who led all teams receiving votes with 21, finished the 2016 season at 37-15-1 overall and advanced to the finals of the East Coast Conference Championship.

In addition, the green and gold made their 15th-straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament last year, claiming the No. 2 seed in the East Region bracket.

The Pioneers have two 2017 opponents ranked in the Top-25. LIU Post will face No. 10 Wayne State in their Florida finale on Mar. 11 and No. 7 Adelphi in their home opener on Mar. 16.

Head Coach Jamie Apicella and the Pioneers open up the 2017 campaign on Sunday, Mar. 5 against Bentley University and Holy Family University at the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
