West Babylon, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference released its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, and amongst the winners were Lukas Ostermann (Men's Soccer Player of the Week) and
Danielle Valenza (Women's Volleyball Player of the Week).
Additionally, Nico Kjaer Andersen (men's soccer) and Kassie Akouri-Tejedor (women's volleyball) appeared on Weekly Honor Rolls for their respective sports.
Lukas Ostermann (Gr.) – Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week,
Ostermann netted two hat-tricks in two matches last week as the #5 men's soccer team posted a 2-0 record last week. The Saterland, Germany native slotted the game-winning goal and tallied his first collegiate hat trick in LIU Post's 4-1 win over NYIT before banging home his second hat trick in a team-leading 14 goals in a 7-1 rout over Bridgeport on Saturday. Now with a team-leading 33 points on the year, Ostermann ranks second in points and third in goals.
Danielle Valenza (Sr.) – Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.
Valenza tallied double-doubles in three consecutive games to help LIU Post to a 3-0 record last week. She totaled 42 kills (3.23 per set), 40 digs (3.08 per set), as well as 10 service aces and 13 total blocks on the week. Her best performance came in a five-set win at Stonehill where she nearly tallied a triple-double with 17 kills, 10 digs, and eight service aces to go along with four block assists. Additionally, Valenza is currently top-five in the ECC in kills with 289.
Nico Andersen (Jr.) – Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll
Andersen captained his backline to a 2-0 record for the fifth-ranked Pioneers last week. In the 4-1 win over NYIT on October 25, the left-back was credited with an assist, and on October 28, the Odense, Denmark native tallied a pair of assists in the 7-1 win over the Purple Knights.
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor (So.) – Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll
Akouri-Tejedor totaled 64 assists in the two-setter rotation for the Pioneers, eclipsing the 20-assist mark twice in LIU Post's 3-0 week. The sophomore collected 23 assists in the 3-2 win over Stonehill, and a game-leading 25 assists in the 3-0 sweep over Bentley. The sophomore setter is top-ten in the conference in assists (502) and assists-per-set (4.78).
