BROOKVILLE, N.Y.- The LIU Post women's volleyball squad took the first three sets from Roberts Wesleyan, en route to a 3-0 victory at the Pratt Recreation Center on Saturday.
The Pioneers outscored the Redhawks 25-20 in set one, highlighted by a six-point run through the first half of the session. Set two also went to the green and gold, with a 25-18 victory, while the latter set boasted a LIU Post 25-22 final.
Junior
Rachel Londot (Utica, Ohio) and senior
Danielle Valenza (Hauppague, N.Y.) combined for 20 kills on the day, as they tallied eleven and nine, respectively. Freshman
Lauren Kloos (Kings Park, N.Y) collected five kills in the Pioneer offensive effort. Senior
Indira Rojas (Coamo, Puerto Rico) boasted three aces, while Londot recorded two aces as well.
Defensively, Junior
Elise Strange (Chesapeake, Va.) and Valenza tallied two blocks each, while Rojas and
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor (North Miami Beach, Fla.) earned eight and seven digs, respectively.
Head Coach
Amanda Ostapow and LIU Post women's volleyball returns to the court Sunday, Oct. 8th, when they are set to face conference rival Daemen in Brookville, N.Y. at the Pratt Recreation Center. Start time is slated for 12 p.m.
