Old Westbury, NY| The LIU Post women's basketball team came up short on Sunday in an 83-74 loss to NE10 foe Pace University at Recreation Hall.
Sophomore forward Mikaiya Moore scored a career-best 34 points and added six rebounds for the Pioneers (0-2) in the effort. Sophomore guard Asia Turner collected 12 points, two rebounds and an assist.
LIU Post came out of the gate strong, opening the contest on a 10-4 run. Moore and Sasha Patterson accounted for eight of the points in the spurt. Pace tied the match a 10-all at the 3:19 mark and closed out the first with a 7-2 run.
Up 17-12, the Setters extended their lead to double digits (31-21) midway through the second quarter and continued their torrid pace to close out the first half with a 39-26 lead.
The Pioneers cut their deficit to single digits (41-33) after a three-points by Turner, however, the Setters re-gained their double-digit lead and never looked back.
Junior guard Shannon Doyle had 11 points and three rebounds for the Pioneers. Patterson accumulated six points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
