Caldwell, NJ| The LIU Post women's basketball team lost a close 69-63 decision to Caldwell University on Thursday night in a non-conference tilt at the Newman Center.

 
With the loss the Pioneers slide to 0-3, while Caldwell improves to a perfect 3-0.
 
Senior forward Sasha Patterson scored a team-high 14 points and collected seven rebounds. Junior guard Shannon Doyle added 11 points, three rebounds, and a steal. Red-shirt sophomore Taylah Hudson had nine points and two rebounds.
 
In the first quarter the Pioneers were up by for 9-5 at the 6:00 minute-mark, but it was the Cougars who closed out the frame with a 13-5 run to take the four-point lead.
 
Down 18-14 to start the second frame,  the Pioneers netted back-to-back three pointers to reclaim the lead, but a pair of free throws by Caldwell saw the game knotted at 20-all.  A 10-2 run by the Cougars gave them an eight-point advantage (30-22) at 2:45, before entering halftime with a 34-29 lead.
 
At the start of the third quarter, Caldwell jumped to an 11-point lead (45-34), but the Pioneers responded back with a 12-4 run to close their deficit to three. A three pointer by Doyle at the 1:10 mark brought the game level 49-49 before a made Cougar basket  gave Caldwell a two-point advantage (51-49).
 
With under two minutes to play, the Pioneers trailed Caldwell by six (63-57), but a Patterson layup brought LIU Post within four. The Cougars were able to get to the line three separate times sinking five of their next six free throws to extend their margin by nine (68-59). After a pair of made free throws by Mikaiya Moore, Caldwell netted its final free throw attempt to ice the game and down the Pioneers 69-63.
