Danielle Valenza led all players with 16 kills as the LIU Post women's volleyball team earned its second 3-0 victory over Daemen College this season in Amherst, NY on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Pioneers improve to 26-4 on the year and 10-2 in ECC play, as the Wildcats slip to 11-14 (7-5).
An 18-12 advantage late in the first set sprung the guests to a convincing 25-16 victory, and the Pioneers harnessed that momentum and used it in the second where they'd go up 15-11 midway through the frame.
A 6-1 run by Daemen brought the set to within four points (22-18) but LIU Post fended the Wildcats off and earned a 25-20 to go up 2-0 in the match.
In the third, the Wildcats jumped out to a 9-5 lead before late building an 18-13 advantage. A 6-0 run from the guests gave LIU Post a one-point lead (19-18), before earning the final two points of the match to clinch the 3-0 sweep.
Aside from Valenza's 16 kills, Kristin Bendy contributed to eight kills for the Pioneers.
Rachel Londot and Indira Rojas both anchored the defense, registering a game-best 11 digs, while Kassie Akouri-Tejedor matched a career-best 33 assists in the contest.
