Brookville, NY| The LIU Post women's volleyball team swept ECC rival Mercy College, 3-0, to win its seventh-straight game on Wednesday evening at the Pratt Recreation Center.

With the victory, the Pioneers remain atop of the conference standings with a 28-4 regular record –the most wins in a season since 1982 –and a 12-2 mark in conference play. The Mavericks conclude their regular season 7-25 (1-13 ECC).

LIU Post's offense was powered by senior Danielle Valenza, who collected a game-high 13 kills. Sophomore Kassie Tejedor-Akouri contributed five kills and 11 digs, and senior Indira Rojas was credited with 10 digs.
Sophomore Lea Brady hit .357 and put down six kills.

LIU Post breezed through the first set, scooping up a 25-14 victory and using that momentum to pull ahead 13-6 early in the second. Later, up 19-11, the hosts used 6-2 run to storm to a convincing 25-13 second-set win and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

LIU Post was met with stiffer competition in the third set as the visitors took 20 points off the Pioneers. A 4-0 run, which was capped off by Cara Kennedy's match-winning kill would result in a 25-20 win that clinched the three-game sweep for LIU Post.

With the win, the Pioneers have clinched at least a share of the ECC Volleyball Regular Season Championship. They await their opponent for the ECC Volleyball Championship which will be announced this weekend
