Valhalla, NY| The LIU Post women's basketball team broke free from Mercy College with a big 24-point first quarter to secure a 77-59 ECC victory on Saturday afternoon, extending its win streak to four. Senior Sasha Patterson set a career-high 33 points and tallied 15 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season, and Taylah Hudson contributed with 10 points.

Turning Point
- With the Mavericks leading by just two four minutes into the first period, LIU Post opened a 16-0 run to build a double-digit advantage and controlled the game until the final buzzer.
How it Happened
- The Mavericks took the lead early in the contest, but the Pioneers close the first quarter with a 16-0 spurt to lead 24-10 at the first break. LIU Post pushed the lead to as many as 17 in the second stanza and maintained a 38-21 lead headed into the break. Sasha Patterson led the early charge with 24 points and seven rebounds in just 20 minutes.
- After a Mikaiya Moore jumper increased the Pioneers lead to 18 early in the third, LIU Post took its largest lead (48-25) with 8:01 to play in the third frame, as LIU Post closed the frame with a 58-44 lead.
- Patterson's layup to open the final stanza gave the Pioneers a 16-point lead (60-44). With five minutes left to play LIU Post took the largest lead of the quarter and cruised to a 77-59 victory over Mercy College.
