BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 22, 2017) - Freshman midfielder Austin Guerrina (Longwood, Fla.) tallied a game-high four points Wednesday to lead the LIU Post men's lacrosse team to a 13-1 rout of East Coast Conference foe Dominican College at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Guerrina scored a game-high-tying three goals and added an assist in the victory. Sophomore midfielder Michael Licata (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) recorded a career-best three-goal effort. Junior attackman Chris Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.) and freshman midfielder Dan Foley (Carmel, N.Y.) each finished with three points (2 G, 1 A).

The Pioneers (5-4, 2-1 ECC) jumped out to a commanding 9-0 lead in the contest, which they took into the break. Foley, Licata and Guerrina all notched a pair of goals in the first-half outburst. Ranfone, Trasacco and junior midfielder Dylan Harned (Selden, N.Y.) had tallies, as well.

The green and gold never looked back from there, as they allowed just one goal to the Chargers (3-4, 0-2 ECC) in the second half of play.

Additionally, it was the first time the Pioneers held an opponent to one goal or fewer in a game since 2013 (Apr. 6 at Dominican).

Between the pipes, senior goaltender Matthew Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) and sophomore cageminder Bryan Ochs (Syosset, N.Y.) combined to make five saves for LIU Post. Junior goalie Matthew Sandelier (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and freshman goalie John Rooney (Bellmore, N.Y.) stopped a total of 15 shots for Dominican.

On faceoffs, sophomore midfielder Connor Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) was a superb 8-of-11 (72.7 percent) in the first half. Senior midfielder Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.) followed that up with a flawless 7-for-7 showing in the latter 30 minutes.

For the contest, the Pioneers outshot the Chargers by a 28-6 count and owned a 34-16 advantage in ground balls. The green and gold were also a near-perfect 15-of-16 (93.7 percent) on clears.

Head Coach John Jez and his LIU Post squad are back in action next Saturday (Apr. 1), when they close out their three-game homestand against ECC arch-rival New York Institute of Technology at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville. The opening faceoff is set for noon.
