WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (Mar. 26, 2017)
- Junior Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) blew past the school record in the 5,000-meter run to lead the LIU Post men's and women's outdoor track and field teams at the St. Joseph's and Monmouth Spring Openers on Saturday.

Williams' sixth-place run of 17:43.50 at Monmouth broke the former school mark of 18:22.7, which was set by Trisha Stavinoha in 2005.

In the 4 x 800-meter relay, the team of graduate Ashlin Conroy (Syosset, N.Y.), sophomore Kaitie Schillaci (Albany, N.Y.) and freshmen Nicolette Agostinacchio (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Alexandria Okon (Laurel, Md.) won the event in 10:04.09.

Conroy also finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 11:41.27. Agostinacchio and Okon came in 10th (2:24.94) and 12th (2:25.95) in the 800-meter run, respectively.

In the 400-meter dash, senior Chloe Margulis (Port Washington, N.Y.) took second in her heat and clocked a personal-best 1:04.50.

Freshman Kaitlyn Klein (Richmondville, N.Y.) placed eighth in the shot put with a toss of 11.85 meters (38 feet, 10.5 inches). She just missed shattering the program mark by a half inch.

On the men's side, senior Stefan Adams (Jamaica, N.Y.) was fourth in the 400-dash, after sprinting to a time of 49.24. He ran a 22.84 in the 200-meter dash, as well.

Red-shirt junior Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, N.J.) won his heat in the 200-dash, clocking a 23.22. Red-shirt junior Ramel Joseph (Jamaica, N.Y.) and red-shirt sophomore Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) both recorded a time of 11.67 in the 100-meter sprint.

Freshman Justin Ortega (Bay Shore, N.Y.) individually finished at 16.82 and 59.50 in the 110-meter high hurdles and 400-meter intermediate hurdles.

Fellow freshman Jeffrey Reyes (Bay Shore, N.Y.) ran to a time of 8:58.11 in the 3,000-meter event.

At the St. Joseph's Meet, sophomore Lance Edwards (Stratford, Conn.) placed third in the 1,500-meter run, crossing at 4:22.41. Junior Ryan Gioe (Huntington Station, N.Y.) was sixth (16:52.03) in the 5,000-meter run.

Head Coach Kevin Buckley and the Pioneers return to action next Saturday (Apr. 1), when they compete at the Roadrunner Invitational, hosted by Ramapo College at 9:30 a.m. in Mahwah, N.J.
