BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 9, 2017) - Ten different players tallied at least one point Sunday for the No. 6/5 LIU Post women's lacrosse team in a 17-3 rout of East Coast Conference foe Roberts Wesleyan College at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
Senior attacker
Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) had a game-high five points (4 G, 1 A) and three caused turnovers in the win. Freshman midfielder
Alyssa Mallery (Wantagh, N.Y.) registered four goals and won six draw controls.
Red-shirt senior attacker
Alexis Newman (Medford Lakes, N.J.) notched three goals, including a pair of free-position tallies. Freshman attacker
Angela Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) dished out two assists.
Leading 2-1 at the midway point of the first half, the Pioneers (8-1, 4-0 ECC) closed out the period on a six-goal run to bring an 8-1 lead into the locker room.

Hannah von Hollen (Severna Park, Md.) added tallies, as well.
Then, in the second half, the green and gold kept their foot to the gas pedal and scored six unanswered goals from the onset to pull away for the victory.

Paige Sherlock (West Islip, N.Y.) amassed four ground balls in the effort. Sophomore midfielder
Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) recorded a goal and two caused turnovers.
Between the pipes, junior goaltender
Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made a game-high nine saves for LIU Post. It was her third-highest save output of the year (11 at Stonehill; 10 at East Stroudsburg).
For the contest, the Pioneers nearly tripled up their opposition in shots (37-15), while holding a 20-17 edge in ground balls and a 21-1 advantage in draws. They were also a near-perfect 6-of-7 (85.7 percent) on free-position shots.
