BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 20, 2017) - On Wednesday night, the LIU Post volleyball team knocked off Queens College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-20), in an East Coast Conference showdown at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville.
Junior outside hitter
Rachel Londot (Utica, Ohio) supplied a match-high-tying 10 kills and 11 digs for a double-double. She also led all players with six service aces in the effort. Junior setter
Giulia Genna (Rome, Italy) dished out 15 assists, while sophomore setter
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor (North Miami Beach, Fla.) allocated 10 assists. Senior libero
Indira Rojas (Coamo, Puerto Rico) finished with 12 digs.
Leading 8-5 in the first set, the Pioneers (10-3, 1-1 ECC) rolled off a 10-3 run to expand their lead to 18-8, forcing a Knights' (2-6, 0-2 ECC) timeout. Junior middle hitter

Lauren Kloos (Kings Park, N.Y.) each put down a kill in the spurt. Londot and Akouri-Tejedor both contributed an ace.
The green and gold, which hit a match-high .147 in the opening set, eventually went on to take the first set by a 25-18 count. The hosts also capitalized on seven attack miscues and three service errors in the game.
In the second set, LIU Post jumped out to a commanding 13-2 advantage, behind a four-ace performance from Londot. Additionally, sophomore libero/defensive specialist
Allie Ahearne (Baldwin, N.Y.) had two aces in the outburst.
The Pioneers eventually led 20-5, on a
Lea Brady (Woodbridge, Va.) kill, and cruised to a 25-12 victory. Londot and Brady paced the hosts with three kills apiece in the game.
In the third set, the green and gold rallied from a pair of deficits, including a late 19-17 hole, to secure a 25-20 come-from-behind win. The Pioneers ended the match on an 8-1 run, with Londot registering the match-clinching kill.

Amanda Ostapow and her LIU Post squad return to action Saturday (Sept. 23), when they host Franklin Pierce University in a non-conference tilt at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
