BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Five players finished in double figures, and the LIU Post women's basketball team pulled away in the second half to take down the University of District of Columbia, 92-74, to remain unbeaten in East Coast Conference (ECC) play this season.

The Pioneers improve to 8-0 in conference play with the win, and 13-5 overall. With the loss, the Firebirds slip to 2-16 overall, 0-8 against conference opponents.

Sophomore forward Mikaiya Moore led the Pioneers with a double-double behind a 21-point, 10-rebound effort. Graduate student Kylie Garrett found the shooting touch in the win, going 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line for a game-high 23 points. Senior Sasha Patterson, graduate student Kristen Olsen, and sophomore Taylah Hudson added 14, 12, and 12 points, respectively on a night where the Green and Gold shot a steamy 56 (28-50) percent from the field.

After eight lead changes in the opening quarter, the Green and Gold took control with a 16-1 run that poured into the second stanza to take a nine-point lead, 28-19 with 7:02 to play in the half. It was the final lead change of the night, as the Pioneers took a 47-36 lead into the locker room and never looked back.

The lead expanded to 19 points when sophomore Isla Power scored two of her eight second-half points at the 6:06 mark of the third. The trio of Olsen, Garrett, and Patterson combined for 22 of the final 29 Pioneer points, as LIU Post coasted to the 18-point victory.

The Pioneers return to action this weekend when they take on fellow first-place St. Thomas Aquinas College on the road, Saturday, Jan. 20, with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
