WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – Leading the Pioneers to two victories last week, women's basketball senior
Kylie Garrett was named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Jan. 22.
Garrett had an outstanding shooting week for the Pioneers, hitting nearly 70 percent of her shots from the field, including a 73 percent effort from three-point territory. She was also clutch down the stretch in games, shooting 94 percent from the foul line, including 7-of-8 in the fourth quarter against St. Thomas Aquinas College.
To begin the week, Garrett netted 23 points during just 22 minutes of action, hitting five three-pointers, and going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. The senior also added five rebounds to her stat line to lead the Pioneers past the University of the District of Columbia, 92-74. The Ohio native closed out the week with an 18-point performance in a win at STAC, shooting 4-of-7 from the field, including three triples. Her seven free throws down the stretch held off previously unbeaten STAC to keep the Green and Gold a perfect 9-0 in ECC play this season.
Garrett and the rest of the Pioneers return to action Saturday, Jan. 27 when they travel to neighboring New York Institute of Technology for a 1:00 tip.
