BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – With the match tied at the half, a pair of second half goals by graduate student
Lukas Ostermann propelled the LIU Post men's soccer team past Post University in a non-conference matchup Tuesday at the Pioneer Soccer Park.
The win has LIU Post's record at 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the East Coast Conference. The Pioneers also improved their all-time record against Post to 4-1-1.
Along with Ostermann's two goals, sophomore
Tom Stenberg also found the back of the net for the Pioneers. Ostermann, junior
Yohance Alexander and freshman
Javier Rehberger Martin each had an assist while junior goalkeeper
Matias Pesallaccia had five saves.
At 12:02 Stenberg scored the opening goal of the match as Ostermann passed him the ball from the middle of the box to the left side where he tapped it in with his left foot.
Post scored its first goal, at 34:45 causing a tie heading into halftime.
LIU Post scored quickly in the second half with Rehberger Martin crossing the ball from the right wing to the top of the box finding Ostermann who launched the ball into the top left of the net.
The Pioneers consolidated their lead to 3-1 at 75:25 when Alexander passed the ball to Ostermann on the right side of the goal and he tapped it in.
