Brookville, N.Y. – Playing in its first match at the Pioneer Soccer Park in 2018, the LIU Post women's soccer team defeated Queens College 2-0 Tuesday.
The win improved the Pioneers' record to 6-2-1 overall and 3-1 in the East Coast Conference. LIU Post also improved its all-time record against Queens to 17-1-3.
Sophomores
Sydney Pasquarella and
Samantha Gordon were the Pioneers' goal scorers while junior
Julia Duffy and redshirt junior
Alice Schonfeldt each had one assists.
LIU Post out-shot the Knights 17-1 including 12 shots on goal to zero. The Pioneers also held the advantage in corner kicks 13-3.
At 13:17 Pasquarella scored her fifth goal of the season after Duffy crossed the ball from the right side of the box and she rocketed the ball into the top right corner of the net.
LIU Post's next goal came on a perfectly executed corner kick; Schoenfeldt placed the ball in the center of the box and a Gordon header sent the ball into the back of the net.
