BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's soccer team tied its season-high goal total as it shut out Daemen College 5-0 on Senior Day Saturday at Pioneer Soccer Park.
The Pioneers tally of five goals matched its total from Sunday, Oct. 7 when it defeated Lincoln University (Pa.) 5-1 at the Pioneer Soccer Park. The win also clinched the Pioneers a spot in the East Coast Conference playoffs.
Prior to kickoff a short ceremony was held honoring LIU Post's seniors
Alice Schonfeldt and
Hillevi Eklow.

Julia Duffy and sophomore
Samantha Gordon each had two goals while freshman
Terese Markelund had one. Juniors
Gabrielle Clark and
Paige Sherlock along with sophomores
Sydney Pasquarella and
Erin O'Connor each had an assist.
Today's match was the second time this season Duffy has scored two goals as she also had two against the University of Bridgeport on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Markelund put the Pioneers on the scoreboard 15:44 after lofting the ball over the goalkeeper's head from 30 yards out.
Gordon was next to score with 43:25 on the clock in the second half as she tapped the ball into the right corner after receiving a pass from Clark. Duffy then gave LIU Post a 3-0 lead at 36:19 after tapping the ball into the left corner after receiving a header from Pasquarella.
Sherlock found Gordon with a cross at 27:56 for the Pioneers' final goal of the match.
