DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's volleyball team picked up where it left off last night as it earned another East Coast Conference victory Saturday, overcoming Mercy College 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-15) inside Victory Hall Sports Center.
The Pioneers tallied more kills 42-30, service aces 7-3, total blocks 6-2, assists 36-29 and digs 52-51.
LIU Post now sits at 18-11 overall and 8-4 in the ECC which has it third in the conference standings.
Match Rewind
The first set began with a Maverick attacking error followed by a kill by sophomore
Lauren Kloos as the Pioneers to a 2-0 an early 2-0 lead. Mercy kept things close after until the score was 12-10 in the Pioneers' favor as a kill by sophomore
Asiya Way led off a 3-0 run that also featured a double block by Kloos and senior
Elise Strange along with a Mercy attacking error. LIU Post closed the set out with another 3-0 run thanks to kills by freshman

Rachel Londot to win 25-16.
The Pioneers withstood an early 5-0 run by the Mavericks that gave them a 7-4 lead to bounce back with an incredible 11-0 run sparked by a Londot kill and also featuring two service aces by junior
Allie Ahearne, a double block by Londot and Strange, kills by junior
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor and Strange along with another Londot kill and a pair of Mercy attacking errors. The Pioneers ended up winning the set 25-18.
Mercy played the Pioneers to a stalemate to begin the third set as the score was tied 8-8 until LIU Post used a 5-0 run that featured a kill by Way, a pair of service aces by junior
Abby Eckhardt along with a service ace and attacking error by the Mavericks to surge ahead 12-8. LIU Post never looked back from there and when up 15-13 used another 5-0 run to consolidate its lead and win the set 25-15 with a service ace by Eckhardt closing the match out.
Top Performers
- Londot led the team in kills with 11 on a .321 attacking percentage and also added eight digs and one service ace
- Eckhardt had a team-high 12 digs and three service aces
- Strange had a match-high four total blocks and also added four kills
- Akouri-Tejedor handed out a team-high 18 assists
