ROCKVILLE CENTER, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-22) setback Saturday afternoon against Molloy College inside Quealy Arena.
 
Statistically the Pioneers came out on top in blocks as they recorded six to the Lions' five and digs, 50-48.
 
Match Rewind
While Molloy used a 5-0 run to gain an early 6-2 lead over the Pioneers, a kill by freshman Aleaha Mokamba keyed a 4-0 run that also featured a kill by sophomore Lauren Kloos and a service ace by senior Navah Evans that leveled the score 6-6. LIU Post and Molloy continued to trade points until the Lions went on a 4-0 run tied 11-11; they never looked back and won the set 25-20.
 
Early in the second set LIU Post went on a 4-0 run that featured a pair of kills by Kloos along with kills by Mokamba, junior Lea Brady to take a 5-2 lead. While the Pioneers held onto the lead momentarily, Molloy went on a 4-0 run of their own down 8-6 to take a 9-8 lead. The set remained a back-and-forth battle; down 23-19 LIU Post used a 3-0 run featuring a Mokamba kill and two Molloy attacking errors to get within a point, however it was enough as the Lions won the set 25-22.
 
The third set was likewise tightly-contested; a kill by sophomore Asiya Way gave the Pioneers a 17-16 lead and a double-block by Mokamba and Brady tied the score 22-22. Unfortunately for the Pioneers, Molloy held on to win 25-22.
 
Top Performers
- Mokamba tied the match-high in kills with a career-high 11. She also added two block assists and two digs
- Akouri-Tejedor led the Pioneers in assists with 20
- Londot led the Pioneers in digs with 13 and had eight kills
