FLUSHING, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's volleyball team wrapped up regular season play with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-11) win over Queens College Saturday inside Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
 
LIU Post concludes regular season play with a 19-12 record overall and a 9-5 record in East Coast Conference Play.
 
Along with recording a  season-high 15 service aces to just one by the Queens the Pioneers came out on top in several other statistical categories; kills 37-16, assists 35-15, and digs 35-30.
 

 
Match Rewind
After taking a 14-7 lead in the opening set a Queens attacking error started a 6-0 run that also featured a double block by sophomore Lauren Kloos and senior Elise Strange, kills by Strange and Kloos along with a service ace by junior Kassie Akouri-Tejedor and another Queens attacking error. The Pioneers went on to take the set 25-12.
 
The Green and Gold used a 6-0 run to open the second set and never looked back.  Ahead 21-17, LIU Post closed the set out on a 4-0 run sparked by a kill by senior Rachel Londot and also featuring back-to-back service aces by Akouri-Tejedor and an attacking error by the Knights. The set concluded with LIU Post winning 25-17.
 
While the Knights jumped out to a 5-4 lead in the third set a kill by sophomore Sydney Audiffred-Zauner led off a 9-0 LIU Post run that also featured a pair of service aces by senior Navah Evans, a pair of kills by freshman Sarah Mangan, kills by Londot and freshman Aleaha Mokamba and a Queens attacking error. The Pioneers continued to build their lead and eventually won the set 25-11.
 
Top Performers
  • Kloos led the match in kills with seven and also added six digs
  • Akouri-Tejedor had a match-high 16 assiusts
  • Ahearne's four service aces were a match-high
  • Strange had a match-high three block assists

The Pioneers will compete at the ECC Tournament  beginning Friday, Nov. 9.
