Football Announces 2018 Signing Class

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – LIU Post head football coach Bryan Collins has announced nine members of the 2018 recruiting class after the Division II signing period opened Feb. 7, 2018.
 
 
The 2018 class will add a significant boost the Pioneer defense, while also adding an explosive weapon on the offensive side of the ball. Of the nine commits during the first day of the signing period, six are incoming freshmen with decorated high school resumes, while also adding three mid-year transfers to the roster for 2018.
 
 
Name: Shawn Bendeck
Position: Defensive Back
Hometown: Glendale, N.Y.
Previous School: St. Francis Prep H.S.
High School Highlights: Bendeck was the leading tackler in the Catholic High School Football League in 2017, averaging over 12 tackles per game. This performance on the field helped lead to a third-team All-New York State selection, along with a second team all-city accolade. Bendeck was also a two-time all-league defensive player for the Terriers.

Name: German Camilo
Position: Defensive Back
Hometown: Bronx, N.Y.
Previous School: Truman H.S.
High School Highlights: Camilo earned first team all-city accolades twice during his high school career, along with two first team All-Public School Athletic League (PSAL) honors. Off the field, Camilo is impressive in the classroom as well, receiving PSAL all-academic accolades.

Name: Colton Celentano
Position: Defensive Lineman
Hometown: Totowa, N.J.
Previous School: Paramus Catholic H.S.
High School Highlights: Celentano comes to LIU Post fresh off an appearance in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl after an impressive senior season in which he averaged nearly six tackles per game as a defensive tackle. Celentano also played on the offensive line during his career, adding honorable mention All-Bergen County and honorable mention all-league accolades throughout his career.

Name: Briant Defelice
Position: Kicker/Punter
Hometown: Farmingdale, N.Y.
Previous School: Farmingdale H.S.
High School Highlights: The local product has compiled an impressive high school career, garnering two first-team All-Long Island honors along with a second team all-metro team and third team all-state accolades as a kicker. During his senior season, Defelice went 30-for-31 on extra-point attempts and 5-of-6 on field goal attempts. Also taking care of the kick-off duties for Lions, Defelice recorded a 62 percent touchback percentage.
Name: Mario Delacruz
Position: Running Back
Hometown: Bronx, N.Y.
Previous School: Lehman H.S.
High School Highlights: Delacruz comes to Brookville after being named the PSAL championship game most valuable player. Delacruz also garnered PSAL all-conference accolades and was a first team all-city member during his career.

Name: Stephen Haynes
Position: Defensive Lineman
Hometown: Millville, N.J.
Previous School: Cheyney University
Career Highlights: Haynes played two seasons at Cheyney University, compiling 16 appearances and 38 tackles. During his career, he registered 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Name: Raees Johnson
Position: Defensive Lineman
Hometown: Jersey City, N.J.
Previous School: University of Rhode Island
Career Highlights: Johnson was a two-year member of the Rhode Island football team, making nine starts on the offensive line during his freshman season before moving to the defensive line during his sophomore season. Last season he made a career-best four tackles against New Hampshire and Harvard, notching 0.5 sack and three tackles for loss.

Previous School: Norfolk State University
Career Highlights: Lee played one season for Norfolk State after redshirting his first year. As a freshman, he appeared in two games before missing the remainder of the season due to injury. Off the field, Lee was twice named to the NSU Athletic Director's Honor Roll for his performance in the classroom.
Name: Steven Reisert
Position: Offensive Lineman
Hometown: Massapequa, N.Y.
Previous School: Plainedge H.S.
High School Highlights: Reisert brings a lot of raw talent to offensive line at LIU Post. At 6-1, 310 pounds, Reisert has the size and potential to be a real force for the Pioneers. During his high school career, he was named first team All-Nassau County.

The Pioneers will kick-off the 2018 season during week two at home inside Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium against American International College.
