The Pioneers were slow out of the gates, as the team dropped its five matches on day one of the event, albeit three coming to nationally ranked Sam Houston State, Vanderbilt, and Delaware State. On day two, the Pioneers earned two victories by way of a bye and later toppled Coppin State for their third victory of the day.
The Green and Gold rounded out the event with two wins during three games on day three. To begin the morning, the Pioneers battled Caldwell in a best-of-seven format, and the match went the distance after a combined five pins decided games five and six. During the winner-take-all game, Caldwell opened with four strikes, but LIU Post responded with five consecutive strikes of its own and eventually pulled away for a 213-180 victory. After dropping the middle match of the day, the Pioneers again were victories in a seven-game matchup with Belmont Abbey to close out the event.
LIU Post now turns its focus to the end of the month when the team competes at the East Coast Conference Championships from Friday, March 23 to Monday, March 26.
