LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association and Division II Conference Commissioner's Association announced LIU Post softball sophomore center fielder Abbey Fortin as a member of the NCAA Division II All-America third team May 23.
 
Fortin had a breakout season as a sophomore, ranking fourth in the country with 161 total bases and sixth with 19 home runs. During the campaign, the Canadian hit .413, compiling 81 hits to rank in the top-10 in Division II. Fortin added 65 runs batted in and came one triple shy of tying the LIU Post single-season record, notching six three-baggers.
 
During the Pioneers' postseason run, Fortin caught fire at the plate, hitting .444 with seven home runs and 13 RBIs. The sophomore helped LIU Post advance to the NCAA Division II East Super Regional tournament with two home runs including a grand slam to help the Pioneers take down Adelphi University 8-0 in the East Region 1 championship game.
 
Fortin and the rest of the Pioneers finished the season with a 38-19 record, falling to St. Anselm College in the super regional round of the NCAA Division II Championship.
