Ostermann, Duffy, and Oldroyd Garner ECC Weekly Recognition

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference announced LIU Post men's soccer graduate student forward Lukas Ostermann, and women's soccer junior forward Julia Duffy and freshman forward Kendra Oldroyd as the league's Offensive and Rookie of the Week for each respective sport on Sept. 10.

The men's and women's soccer teams went unbeaten last week thanks to the outstanding individual efforts of Ostermann, Duffy, and Oldroyd. The recognition comes as the first of the season for all three.

Ostermann led the men's team to two victories against Franklin Pierce University (2-1) and East Stroudsburg University (5-3). The second-year Pioneer helped account for both goals during the win against the Ravens, assisting on a strike during the second minute before finding the back of the net himself a minute later on a penalty kick. The offensive prowess continued on Sunday when Ostermann scored twice and assisted on a third goal during the Pioneers victory against the Warriors during a rainy afternoon in Brookville.

To date, Ostermann leads the ECC in goals (5) and points (13) while also tying for the top spot in assists (3).

All three goals for the women came from Duffy and Oldroyd during a 3-2 victory against Assumption in the team's only contest of the week. Duffy netted a goal during the first six minutes of each half, garnering credit for the game-winning goal to help the Pioneers bounce back from a setback to Southern New Hampshire. Oldroyd found the back of the net for the second time this season and is tied for second in the league in scoring, while Duffy is tied for the top spot with three goals.

Both the men's and women's teams open ECC play on Saturday, Sept. 15 when they host the University of Bridgeport at 12:00 and 2:30 p.m.
