EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The ninth-ranked LIU Post field hockey team could not overcome second-ranked East Stroudsburg University Wednesday, falling 5-0 to the Warriors at Whitenight Field.
The Pioneer offense was limited all afternoon, tallying just one shot attempt, while struggling to slow down an East Stroudsburg attack which registered 18 attempts. LIU Post earned seven penalty corners but could not capitalize in the offensive circle.
The Warriors found the back of the cage during the first minute of action and never looked back. Two more first-half strikes put the Pioneers behind 3-0 at the half before the Warriors tacked on two insurance goals during the second half.
Sophomore
Sammy Bell registered the lone shot attempt for LIU Post and classmate
Rachel Vellis recorded two saves in goal.
The Pioneers will look for win number one on the season when they take on local rival Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 12:00 p.m. inside Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
